Ya Nafs

A piece in honor of Abal Fadhl al-Abbas, the flag bearer on the day of Ashura.  Famous lines of poetry attributed to Abbas. 

يا نَفْسُ من بعدِ الحسينِ هُوني
Oh soul, after Hussain you have no importance,

وبعدَهُ لاَ كُنْتِ أنْ تَكوني
and after him, neither you [are worthy] to have existed or remain in existence

 هذا حسينٌ واردُ المَنونِ
This is Hussain, drinking [from the spring] of death

وتَشْربينَ بارِدَ المَعينِ
And you [dare to] drink from the cold water?!
